The UK Hydrographic Office is a UK Government organisation responsible for collecting, managing and supplying hydrographic and marine geospatial data to support safe navigation and maritime operations.
Its work supports the Royal Navy, commercial shipping, ports, governments, maritime organisations and the wider marine industry. Through Admiralty charts, publications and digital navigation products, the UK Hydrographic Office helps vessels navigate safely and make informed decisions at sea.
From a technology perspective, the organisation operates in a complex, security-conscious environment where data accuracy, resilience, service availability and controlled change are essential.
In my role with the UK Hydrographic Office, I delivered hands-on infrastructure and DevOps engineering across cloud and on-premises services.
This included implementing Desired State Configuration, developing Terraform and ARM templates for Azure deployments, and managing Azure DevOps repositories and CI/CD pipelines to improve automation, collaboration and repeatable software delivery.
